Handmade one quart pitcher made out of cone 6 clay and covered with a clear glaze. The pitcher is decorated with the image of a grey tree frog using sgraffito. Sgraffito, meaning to scratch in Italian, is a ceramic decoration technique where a contrasting color of slip is painted over the surface of the clay. Then, the image is carved away. The result is that the image appears in the color of the clay body underneath, while the negative space is filled with the slip color (in this case, brown clay with white slip.)
This pitcher holds 1 quart or 4 cups of liquid, and is food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
